Show Me Your Intentions

Two blog posts in one day! Who am I?

Once in college, the primary focus of our lives shifts to obtaining the future that we dream of. Almost everyone I know is willing to do just about anything that they need to do in order to achieve that. Tasks and connections become merely boxes to check off in a calendar or a to-do list. Eventually, our target reason to accomplish them is to get us somewhere else. Whether that be through the relationships we foster or the activities we pursue, the significance of why you are doing it in the first place can become almost invisible. As people, we have this power that can mask the true intentions behind our actions. If we don’t say anything no one will ever know why we do the things that we do. Yet, when we do things that go against our true intentions or originate from malintent we spend a lot of time lying to ourselves which pushes us farther away from the people we actually want to be while attracting us closer to those we do not. I say this because I feel like people need to be more truthful with their words. Honesty is, unfortunately, much rarer than it should be. From both personal experience and simply watching, I notice that many of us will say things that fail to reflect how we truly feel. I never understood the point of that. It is important that the way you choose to present yourself to others is authentic. Otherwise, not only do you put yourself in an uncomfortable position, but you also have to work harder to chase something that might not be entirely yours. Truly, things become easier when our intentions are supported by purity. When you approach others with a genuine desire to meet them instead of thinking of a long-term goal, I assure you that you will find yourself at the finish line much faster. This is just to say that you will echo your intentions. If you do things because you mean them, you might be shocked to learn that a lot better will come your way. Everything that I do, every step that I take, and every connection I have made is because it has significance and meaning to me. Despite those moments where I might be wrong or caught off guard, I enjoy wearing my heart on my sleeve. Regardless of how people choose to believe it, it’s important that my intentions are clear right away. If anything was to ever take advantage of that, then I would still be comfortable knowing I stood by the actions I took because my intentions are always pure. I will always be a woman of my word.
